Junior IT Stock Controller

Port Shepstone – KwaZulu Natal – South Africa

The IT Inventory Controller is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the organization’s IT-related inventory. This includes ensuring that hardware, software, and consumables are properly tracked, stocked, and distributed in an efficient and organized manner.
 
Qualifications & Education
Preferred Education:
  • Certifications in Inventory Management are a plus.
Technical Knowledge:
  • Basic understanding of IT hardware and software (computers, servers, networking equipment, peripherals, etc.).
  • 2+ years in inventory control, IT asset management, or warehouse operations.
  • Experience handling IT hardware, software licensing, and consumables.
 
Preferred Experience:
  • Working in an IT department, data centre, or IT service provider
 
Core Skills & Competencies
  • Technical & Analytical Skills
  • Basic knowledge of IT asset lifecycle management.
  • Ability to track and reconcile IT stock levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (proficiency in Excel is a plus).
 
Organizational & Administrative Skills
  • Ability to maintain accurate stock records and update inventory databases.
  • Understanding of stock auditing and compliance procedures.
  • Must be detail orientated and process
  • Ability to maintain the cleanliness and organization of all storage areas.
 
Communication & Interpersonal Skills
  • Ability to report shortages, damages, and discrepancies efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage openly and effectively.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and contribute within a team environment.
  • Highly deadline-driven with the capacity to perform well under pressure.
  • Problem-Solving & Attention to Detail
  • Identifying stock discrepancies and resolving issues quickly.
  • Ensuring security measures for IT stock.
  • Process-oriented with a strong focus on efficiency, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Managing IT stock levels (hardware, software, consumables).
  • Receiving, inspecting, and issuing IT assets.
  • Ensuring compliance with company IT asset policies.
  • Updating inventory databases and generating reports.
  • Conducting regular audits and stock checks.
  • Ensuring safe storage and handling of IT equipment.
