At The Beekman Group, caring for the environment is part of who we are. It’s something we take seriously, not just in words, but in action. Across our resorts, teams are making everyday choices to reduce waste, reuse resources, and protect the natural spaces we all enjoy. We’re embracing biodegradable detergents, installing solar systems, planting gardens, and welcoming bee hives across our resorts. Each of these choices is a step toward something more meaningful; not just for our guests, but for the planet too.
These efforts are already making a visible difference. The Kingdom Resort, located near Sun City in the North West, is cultivating its own vegetables and plants for future use. Kiara Lodge, nestled in the Maluti Mountains near Clarens, is treating and reusing water, sorting waste, and preparing to launch a new vegetable garden. Cayley Lodge, perched above Cathkin Park in the Central Drakensberg, has adopted solar energy and is enhancing biodiversity through bat houses and bee hives.
Our coastal resorts are equally committed. Sea n Sky, in the sunny town of Margate on the KZN South Coast, has cut energy usage through solar and heat pump installations, while also recycling and harvesting rainwater for the pool. The team at The Aloes, also on the South Coast, has led beach clean-ups, repaired potholes, and cultivated a garden that supports both staff and guests. These may seem like small acts, but together, they’re creating a lasting impact.
San Martinho Beach Club, in Bilene, Mozambique, continues to lead the way, with over 2,285 kilograms of beach litter removed, composting in full swing, and donations of refuse bins to the local town. From mosquito-repelling shrubs at Placid Waters in Sedgefield, Western Cape, to a new wastewater plant at Hazyview Cabanas in Mpumalanga, our resorts are stepping up with purpose.
It’s all part of our shared vision for a greener, cleaner future. One thoughtful choice at a time!
