The Beekman Group is proud to announce that it has once again been recognised for its people-first approach, winning the Employee Wellness category at the 2025 Standard Bank KZN Top Business Awards for the second consecutive year.
This accolade reaffirms the Group’s long-standing belief that taking care of people is not separate from business success – it is central to it.
The Beekman W.A.Y. Shapes Our Award-Winning Culture
The awards, held on 17 July in Durban, celebrate organisations that lead with purpose and place people at the heart of their success. Cindy Allan (née Beekman) and John Beekman, both part of the founding Beekman family and now directors of the company, accepted the award on behalf of the Beekman Group. Their leadership has been instrumental in shaping a workplace culture where people feel genuinely seen, supported and empowered.
Reflecting on the achievement, Mrs Cindy Allan shared:
“This award is a meaningful acknowledgement of a culture we’ve quietly nurtured over time, one where people genuinely care for one another. As a family-run business, we’ve always believed that when we treat our people like family, they, in turn, extend that same care to our members and guests. It’s not about shifting focus away from those we serve. It’s about ensuring that the people behind the service are supported, empowered, and inspired. That way, the warmth and excellence our guests experience is both sincere and lasting. We’re proud to see this approach being recognised.”
Built on a Service Ethos That Makes a Difference
At the heart of this recognition is the Beekman W.A.Y. – a shared commitment introduced in 2016 that continues to shape our culture and guide our growth. It’s anchored in three pillars:
- Wow Our Customers: we’re passionate about creating unforgettable guest experiences, going the extra mile to make every stay extraordinary.
- Always Evolving: we believe in staying curious, agile and forward-thinking, continuously improving how we work and what we offer.
- You Make the Difference: every team member matters, and it’s their unique contribution that helps us grow stronger together.
These pillars influence how we serve our guests, how we treat each other, and how we evolve as a team. They’re supported by dedicated resources and initiatives that promote connection, wellbeing, and career development – from recognition programmes and wellness support to training opportunities and inclusive team culture.
The Beekman W.A.Y. is supported by dedicated resources and a range of practical initiatives focused on connection, wellbeing and career development. Team members are encouraged to bring their ideas, energy and individuality to the table. We’ve created spaces where recognition is part of the daily rhythm, where wellness is taken seriously, and where people are supported in building long-term careers.
This award adds to a growing list of accolades that affirm our commitment to building a people-centred workplace. We’ve also been recognised by the Sunday Times Best Places to Work and the 2025 PMR.africa Award for Exceptional Managerial and Corporate Governance.
