Beekman Group Goes Kayaking To Raise Funds For Shelter Animals

The Beekman Group consistently strives towards honouring its commitment to Corporate Social Investment (CSI) and realises the value of involving employees in various initiatives. The month of August was no different, and a team of animal lovers, sponsored by the Beekman Group, participated in a fundraising drive organised by Kayak Trips.

This important event took place on the 27 August 2022 and was aimed at helping animals who long to have a loving pet owner, and are also in need of food, blankets, and medicine.

On the day of the drive, a team of kayakers made their way from Spillars Wharf, on the banks of the Umzimkhulu River, in a 6km race with the option of racing individually or in relays. Even though all the participant’s strength was put to the test, the Beekman Group’s kayaking representatives, Mandy Olivier, Marcia Cele, Wynand Muller, Krissi Banzon, Lanette Pretorius, and Laiken Westermann, had no shortage of spunk, tenacity, and team spirit.

Attendees were treated to a dog show that provided some fun-filled entertainment, a great reminder of how man’s best friend brings love and laughter to our lives. The SPCA also used this event as an opportunity to provide much-need vaccinations to cats and dogs, ensuring that our furry friends enjoy a high quality of life.

Spectators and participants strolled through the local family market located at the popular Fish on The River restaurant. While strolling, attendees were treated to a compelling live performance by the award-winning singer and saxophonist Anne-Marie Clulow.

The proceeds of the day went to two worthy charitable organisations, the Lower South Coast SPCA, and Harmony Hill – ensuring that the contributions assist the animals with food, blankets, housing, and medication; all the necessities needed to care for the beloved animals of the South Coast.

Thank you to our staff for representing the Beekman Group in a worthy cause, and to Kayak Trips for hosting this successful event.
