OUR GO GREEN INITIATIVES We are dedicated to balancing financial success with positive social and environmental impact. Our Go Green initiative focuses on sustainability, ensuring we leave a healthier planet for future generations. Recently, we’ve ramped up our efforts to reduce waste and pollution, from implementing comprehensive recycling programmes to adopting digital solutions that significantly cut paper usage across our operations. These initiatives reflect our ongoing commitment to eco-friendly practices that drive both efficiency and environmental responsibility. For more information on our Go Green activities visit the Go Green page under “BEEKMAN CARES” on www.beekmangroup.com ABOUT THE HOLIDAY CLUB www.theholidayclub.co.za | Our Go Green Initiatives 23 It’s been over a decade since we began our journey towards becoming carbon neutral, with initiatives like plastic, paper and aluminium recycling depots on each floor, sorted daily to reduce waste. In 2023, our head office took a major leap forward by installing solar panels capable of generating up to 181.44 kWp of real-time power, providing a reliable and renewable energy source whenever weather conditions allow. That same year, we also implemented borehole water to further reduce strain onmunicipal resources. In 2024, we added energy-storing solar batteries to ensure consistent power supply, even during less favourable conditions. These efforts have already made a noticeable difference, significantly lowering our dependence on non-renewable energy sources. We remain committed to growing oursustainability efforts yearafteryear, with future projects focused on reducing our environmental impact even further. Our Head Office is Green Beekman Group resorts have been committed to eco-friendly initiatives since 2012. Our resort programmes are aimed at minimising environmental impact and supporting local ecosystems. These include the installation of solar panels and heat pumps to sustainably meet energy needs, as well as wastewater treatment plants to recycle water for irrigation and pool refills. Rainwater harvesting systems further support these efforts. The resorts also prioritise recycling programmes, including the collection of tins, plastics, and bottle tops, with funds andmaterials often repurposed for community projects. Beehives and bat houses have been installed at some resorts to provide alternative habitats, support local ecosystems and control animal and pest populations. Additionally, vegetable and herb gardens are cultivated at various resorts to supply fresh produce for restaurants and events, and eco-friendly containers are used for food and beverages. Regular beach clean-ups, road and public area maintenance, and the use of recycledmaterials for plant propagation all contribute to our resorts’ ongoing sustainability efforts.
