Private Edition 2024/25
INTRODUCTION www.theholidayclub.co.za | Chairman’s Report 04 THE HOL IDAY CLUB CHAIRMAN’S REPORT Dear Members As we celebrate 30 years of The Holiday Club, I am proud to be able to write to you today on the shoulders of three decades of growth and leadership in the holiday industry and with the uncertainty and fear of the COVID-19 pandemic largely behind us. Not only do we remain the trusted name in Southern African holiday ownership, but we have also continued to reinforce the trust and dedication of our Members by always improving our service and product offerings, and consistently reinvesting into our resorts to ensure the most unforgettable experiences for our guests. We have been able to do this through continuous innovation, and of course, the reliable patronage of our Members, which have combined to place The Holiday Club in the historically strong financial position we are proud to share with you, in this Private Edition Magazine. In 2022 alone, millions were spent on various upgrades and refurbishments across a number of Group properties, including a significant investment on the refurbishment of multiple chalets for our Members to enjoy at the award- winning Dikhololo Resort. Additionally, our Private Residence Members will have more to choose from going forward, as fabulous new PR units have been added at 6 further resorts, which you can discover on pages 48 - 52. When it comes to refurbishments, Royal Atlantic has recently completed a major renovation project, and there are still more to come at Margate Beach Club, Placid Waters, and more. And that’s not to mention the large-scale investments made by Signature Collection Resorts like Formosa Bay Resort and Kiara Lodge into flagship restaurants and eateries, which we are certain will go on to enhance the overall guest experience at these resorts tenfold. You can find a full list of these Signature Collection Resort restaurants on page 16. On the subject of enhancing the experience, our launch of the Max’s Fun Club App at Kiara Lodge has been a massive success, with kids, parents and staff simply loving the innovation. During the course of 2023 and early 2024 we will be rolling this interactive kids’ App out to all the Signature Collection Resorts, to provide a reliable source of fun and education to kids when they stay with us. See pages 24 to 26 for all things related to Max’s Fun Club! The Holiday Club digital experience has also been improved for adults, through a steady, customer-centric overhaul of our online platforms that will significantly streamline how you interact with your membership, and with us. You may notice changes to our website and your online profile being rolled out incrementally so as to ease Members into the more efficient updates we have introduced. With every phase we introduce, there will be a corresponding communication alerting you of the upcoming changes and how to navigate them. Wearealsoproudtoremindyouthatourinitiativesarenotjustlimitedtogrand, experientialtransformations, butalsofactorintheverypracticalconsiderations of energy conservation, which is a focus we have been increasingly prioritising for over a decade now. Long before the challenge of load shedding reached the National Emergency statuswe’ve all been subject to recently. The vast majority of our resorts have had backup electricity generators in place for several years, but as a key part of our sustainability initiatives, solar power generation technology has also been installed at Dolphin View Cabanas as well as solar farms at four of our larger resorts - Dikhololo, The Kingdom Resort, Cayley Lodge and Kiara Lodge. In addition to the solar power generation efforts, significant investments have also been made into hydro-purification and “wastewater” recycling infrastructure by several resorts. These initiatives further minimise our environmental impact and help ensure uninterrupted holidays for our guests, and we look forward to these projects being expanded at more resorts in good time. If you would like to learn more about the impact of the practices mentioned above, read through ‘Our Go Green Initiatives’ on page 22. In summary, with your help, The Holiday Club has knuckled down and braved an unprecedented period of austerity and exceeded industry expectations to go from “recovering” to “thriving” in record time, with occupancy levels rising and new attractions and benefits being introduced regularly. Kind regards, Mark Robertson, The Chairman
