Local firm triumphs as best tourism business in KZN
The Beekman Group walked away with the award for best business in Kwazulu-Natal under the Tourism category, at the 10th annual KZN Top Business Awards 2016. Executive director, Cindy Allan, was proud to accept the award on behalf of The Group during the prestigious function held at the Greyville Convention Centre in Durban recently.
The Group bested Suncoast Casino, Hotels and Entertainment; Hilton Durban and uShaka Marine World in the Tourism category. The event was sponsored by the eLan Property Group.
The Beekman Group was started by brothers John and the late Bram Beekman and has been in operation for more than 45 years. From its first vacation ownership development in 1982, they went on to revolutionise the timeshare industry. The Holiday Club™ was opened in 1993, launching the flexible points system which catapulted the business to success. Other leisure products followed, including resort development and management services, accommodation rental, accommodation exchange and commercial and residential property development.
Leadership reins have been handed over to the second generation. Wayne Beekman, Neville Beekman and Cindy Allan, lead a team of more than 700 staff members, with John still taking an active interest in operations and giving advice where needed. The Beekman Group is proud of this latest accolade and is committed to providing continued service excellence to its base of 60 000 members as well as to the tourism sector.
